IFSC Seeking Nordic Director

The Idaho Falls Ski Club (IFSC) is looking for a new board member to take over its Nordic (cross-country skiing) activities, replacing Mike Abbott who is moving to Teton Valley. This position has historically involved overseeing activities at Kelly Canyon, which includes setup and operation of the Kelly Mountain overnight hut, Nordic trail grooming, update of the Nordic pages on the IFSC website, oversight of Nordic trips conducted by IFSC members, and development and implementation of Nordic ski classes if desired. The new Nordic director will have leeway to develop new activities in places of their choosing and will have a generous budget from IFSC funds. This is a great opportunity for you to become a regional leader in Nordic skiing and a great way to give back to the community through the wonderful life sport of cross-country skiing.

We need someone to step up and take the lead! Otherwise, we might not have the resources to set up and operate the Kelly Mountain hut next winter! Most of the Nordic director work has been streamlined and requires a minimum amount of weekly time. The Forest Service is in charge of the Thursday morning grooming (using an IFSC snowmachine and groomers), and they can train you as a volunteer if you are interested. Plus, all of these activities are ton of fun!

If you are interested or have questions, please contact Robin Villarreal, 208-552-2115; Villarreal.robin@gmail.com or Mike Abbott, 208-881-2088; abb@srv.net. Also, please feel free to forward this to anyone you know who might be interested.
