Yellowstone National Park Biking on Park Roads

This trip was been postponed from April 6 to April 13 due weather

  • There will be no cars on the park roads, except maybe a few Park Service or concessionaire vehicles.
  • Event occurs pending good weather…who likes to ride in rain or snow?
  • No entrance fees or Park pass required.

Date of Ride: Saturday, April 13

Distant Point to Point: Any distance you prefer. We will bike in from West Entrance to Madison Junction, (14 miles), and possibly to Norris (14 more miles), and back.

Starting at the West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, parking at IMAX Theater, the Visitor’s Center, or the entrance road on the South side. The restrooms at the Visitor Center are usually open.

No Dogs Allowed

 Directions:

  • From Idaho Falls FM/McDonalds area, head Northeast on Highway 20 to West Yellowstone, Montana, about 107 miles.
  • Meeting: Please meet between Fred Meyer and McDonalds parking lot at 8:15 a.m. to sign in, which includes a liability release form. Depart for West Yellowstone at 8:29 a.m.  If meeting at Yellowstone National Park West Entrance, arrive at 10:30 a.m.
  • Contact: Jeff Coward will be leading this bike ride. Please contact Susan McKinley 208-520-3784 by Thursday, March 28th to register for this trip.
  • Non-members are welcome but are asked to consider a donation to the Idaho Alpine Club. Please pay Jeff Coward.
